Teledentistry is a teledental visit via videoconference between a dentist and a patient regarding an urgent dental or oral health problem, at the place of a patient. It can also give patients improved access to information about the importance of oral health.

Asynchronous transmission of photographs, video, and digital impressions through an electronic communications system to a practitioner. This information is then used to diagnose or provide a service.

remote monitoring

RPM is collecting personal health and medical data from patients via electronic medical device technologies. The dentist can access it for monitoring conditions and supporting care delivery.

Teledentistry was a boon in recent spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) when physicall contact was avoided

This dental care delivery model is especially useful, as it helps to create equity in oral health by extending the availability of dental care outside of the constraints of the dentist’s availability.
